After years of research with the aim of combatting these effects on the skin, Cantabria Labs has developed an extraction procedure of the active ingredients contained in the leaves of Deschampsia antarctica, which allows the preservation of its biological activity.
Deschampsia antarctica
Deschampsia antarctica is a grass native to Antarctica subjected to extreme environmental conditions. The vital need of this grass to combat these environmental stressors has forced it to develop defence mechanisms that act molecularly in the skin against the effects of pollution and have been demonstrated by different clinical trials.
Cantabria Labs has launched a plantation in Uruguay optimised by hydroponics and has developed a process of extraction of the active ingredients, which allows the preservation of its biological activity.

Activation of the AhR receptor (Aryl-hydrocarbon) is closely related to the appearance of hyperpigmentations and dark spots on the skin. EDAFENCE® has demonstrated blocking of this receptor.
It improves skin barrier function
EDAFENCE® combats the damage caused by contaminants in the skin barrier while maintaining levels of loricrin, a protein related to the proper functioning of the skin barrier

SCA® Growth Factor Technology
Origin and Development
It was born from the concern of Dr. Rafael Abad, radiotherapist of the Hospital Ramón y Cajal, for his patients undergoing radiation therapy. These patients suffered very severe burns during radiation therapy treatment.
After various studies Dr. Abad discovered that the secretion of Cryptomphalus aspersa achieved rapid regeneration in the damaged skin of these patients.
In the mid 1990s, Cantabria Labs patented the process of obtaining this secretion and promoted the realisation and publication of numerous studies that demonstrated their scientific endorsement in the field of repair and improvement of damaged and aged skin.
Cryptomphalus aspersa
Cryptomphalus aspersa reacts to aggressions by producing a complex glycoprotein secretion, called SCA® Growth Factor Technology, which enables the regeneration of damaged skin structures.
Mechanisms of Action
It effectively prevents, protects and repairs skin damage, while providing the skin with powerful regenerating, antioxidant and firming action. SCA® Growth Factor Technology promotes skin rejuvenation by reducing the number and depth of wrinkles, returning firmness and smoothness to the skin and providing extra luminosity.
Antioxidant Activity

IFC® CAF Technology
Origin and Development
Stem cells are characterised by their ability to renew and differentiate themselves into various types of skin cells including fibroblasts and keratinocytes. During aging, these cells gradually lose their function and die. Their number is reduced and skin loses the ability to repair. In addition, the extracellular membrane, rich in different components such as collagen or elastin, is degraded. As a result, the skin loses density and wrinkles appear.
Our exclusive IFC® CAF Technology was born from the need to address these consequences of aging.
IFC® CAF
Innovative biotechnological extraction of gastropod eggs of the Helicidae family, which are extremely rich in stem cell activator growth factors. This activation promotes constant cell renewal. In addition, it stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and other important structural components of the skin to recover the loss of dermal density.
Mechanisms of Action
IFC® CAF Technology activates skin stem cells and promotes their differentiation into new keratinocytes and fibroblasts, supporting the skin’s natural renewal process and structural integrity.
